I will say this, if I hadn't seen Big Fish before, I would have adored Dumbo. He either likes the weird dark emo landscape or he likes that stylized version of yesteryear. With movies like Big Fish and Dumbo, I now realize that he's a two-note director. But then again, Big Fish is something different, isn't it? It's not like the morbid look at everything isn't interesting. I often think of him as a one-note director, pretty much making the same movie time and again. But Tim Burton has devoted so much of his career to the macabre. Oh man, do I love doing Tim Burton impressions. I didn't love Dumbo, but I also didn't hate it. This blog space is mostly for discovery and we'll see how this plays out. It is far more thought out than what I have going on right now. I highly encourage you to please read that one when it comes out. I understand that not everyone wants to read my blog-heavy musings. I also have to maintain a certain tone when I write those. Those are mostly meant to be reviews as opposed to analyses. I write the Catholic News Agency far more professionally. I have a review with Catholic News Agency coming out pretty soon. The new Dumbo is scarier than the original, so keep that in mind. On top of that, there's a lot of cruelty to a baby elephant throughout. A lot of them spring back though and love the rest of the movie. I think every kid goes under the seat and begs to turn off the movie at some of these scenes. For some reason, Disney movies love showing peril. I keep using my sensitive son as the example of what is scary and this terrified him. I mean, the original was G, so my logic is still in place. It's one of the few live action PG movies that exist anymore.

Look:įrom the equation you clear t1 it is enough if you pass 9 m / s dividing the first term. If you you look fondly you realize that the first two are a little system (2x2) and the last two, another. It means that here finished the physics of the problem. I feared this: it was a system of many equations as unknowns (4x4), in which the unknowns, if we know to interpret them, are the ones that the problem´s statement asks. t 2 2Įstas, en cambio, son las ecuaciones especializadas para los instantes que a vos te interesan. Nor they ask us anything about speed in these points. But we will give a rest to the vertical speed equation: no data is provided about speed in the first and second point. What´s left is very simple now it is enough with asking to the shoe´s equations to talk about the interest points of the problem: the 1 and the 2. t²Įstas son las ecuaciones que describen TODO el fenómeno del movimiento contado en el enunciado. With all those constants, then, we setup the equations that describe the motion of the shoe. Those are the values I put in the scheme, in the ballon that is talking about the 0 point. Instead we get the actual speed, Vo, with which the shoe goes away, and the firing angle. Y = y o + v oy ( t – t o ) + ½ g ( t – t o )² To find them you have to simply replace the constants ( t o, x o, y o, v x, v oy, and g) of the oblique shot´s general equations: How many time equations describe this problem? Three, of course, like every OS. But any other reference system would have worked equally. I find it easier to think things that way. Why did I put the reference origin on the floor?, well, because some data (that the statement gives) are already referred to the floor: "a 2 m height wall", etc. I've got this one here, when I used to do the exercises by hand. In oblique shot exercises, more than ever, we must begin with a diagram. The projectile starts out with 15 m/s speed, forming 53° to the horizontal, from a 1,25m height.Ī - Determine how high above the cat passed the shoe.ī - Determine how far, in the other side of the wall, the shoe reached the floor. Juan is in his garden, in front of him and at 18 m from the wall, and he pretends to drive him away by throwing a shoe. KINEMATICS, Projectile Motion Ex 04, EXERCISES OF PHYSICS onlineĥ.4 - A cat meows, installed on a 2m height wall. Each of these has many fascinating properties which mathematicians are continuing to study even today. There are many other types of tessellations, like edge-to-edge tessellation (where the only condition is that adjacent tiles should share sides fully, not partially), and Penrose tilings. There are eight such tessellations possible All the other rules are still the same.įor example, you can use a combination of triangles and hexagons as follows to create a semi-regular tessellation. If you look at the rules above, only rule 2 changes slightly for semi-regular tessellations. If you use a combination of more than one regular polygon to tile the plane, then it's called a "semi-regular" tessellation. The mathematics to explain this is a little complicated, so we won't look at it here So what's unique to those 3 shapes (triangle, square and hexagon)? As it turns out, the key here is that the internal angles of each of these three is an exact divisor of 360 (internal angle of triangle is 60, that of square is 90, and for a hexagon is 120). You can see that there is a gap and that's not allowed. Let's try with pentagons and see what shape we come up with. You may wonder why other shapes won't work. Let me show you examples of these two here. What are the other two? They are triangles and hexagons. Of course, you would have guessed that one is a square. Each vertex (the points where the corners of the tiles meet) should look the same. All the tiles must be the same shape and size and must be regular polygons (that means all sides are the same length). The tessellation must cover a plane (or an infinite floor) without any gaps or any overlaps. There are only three rules to be followed when doing a "regular tessellation" of a plane If you use only one kind of polygon to tile the entire plane - that's called a "Regular Tessellation"Īs it turns out, there are only three possible polygons that can be used here. There are different kinds of tessellations – the ones of most interest are tessellations created using polygons. The word “Tiling” is also commonly used to refer to "tessellations". Of course, when we are talking about floors, the shapes used to cover it are mostly rectangles or squares (in fact, the word " tessellation" comes from the Latin word tessella - which means " small square"). The one difference here is that technically a plane is infinite in length and width so it's like a floor that goes on forever. That is a good example of a "tessellation". And you'll notice that the floor is covered with some tiles or marbles of different shapes. That is a flat surface - called a "plane" in mathematical terms. To explain it in simpler terms – consider the floor of your house. Send us feedback about these examples.A tessellation is simply is a set of figures that can cover a flat surface leaving no gaps. These examples are programmatically compiled from various online sources to illustrate current usage of the word 'tessellation.' Any opinions expressed in the examples do not represent those of Merriam-Webster or its editors. Manon Bischoff, Scientific American, 10 Apr. Adrienne Bernhard, Popular Mechanics, 15 June 2023 This tells us that the tessellation must be aperiodic. Elise Cutts, Quanta Magazine, 21 June 2023 The concept of aperiodic geometry has existed for at least 1,000 years from Islamic mosaics and tessellations to ancient marquetry designs and silk weavings. Manon Bischoff, Scientific American, 22 June 2023 Each tessellation should plot to exactly one point within the plane. Lyndie Chiou, Quanta Magazine, 25 July 2023 Doris Schattschneider, a retired mathematician affiliated with Moravian University with expertise in tessellations, had been skeptical about the likelihood of a true einstein ever being discovered. 2023 In the current work, Pisani and her colleagues tailored their Voronoi tessellations to identify about 6,000 voids in the data from an enormous galactic mapping project called the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS). 2023 The transformation has been so recent and total that the fastest-growing suburbs in Loudoun tend to resemble architectural renderings of themselves: arteries of immaculate asphalt lined with evenly spaced cherry saplings, tessellations of residential subdivisions with near-identical fake colonials. Elise Cutts, Quanta Magazine, 21 June 2023 So from the front, there’s a tessellation that goes around the frame. Recent Examples on the Web Those molecules then connect to each other via hydrogen bonds, creating a tessellation of polygons. Go for empty spaces: empty spaces on the tableau can be used as placeholders. Remember that these sequences can be moved around, but mixed ones cannot, and they will block the hidden cards under them. The chances of winning a game are normally of 1 in every 3 games, but it is possible to increase one odds of victory using the following simple strategy tips:īuild suit sequences: whenever you have a choice, try to build pile sequences by suit. Spider is a game that combines strategy with a dash of luck. As a result, if such a sequence is built, the player will have to deconstruct it to reach the hidden cards under it.įor example, you can move the 8 of spades and the 7 of spades together into another pile, but it is not possible to move a mix sequence with an 8 of spades and a 7 of hearts.Īdditionally, players must also build the Foundation by suit now. However, it is not possible to move partial sequences when they are mixed. These can have more than one suit in them. Playing with 2 or more suits increases the game difficulty because the rules to move the cards around the piles are stricter.Īs with the case of using only 1 suit, the players can only transfer the cards within the piles to create descending sequences. Each completed sequence is automatically sent to the Foundations. To win the game, the players must reveal all the cards and create descending sequences by suit with them. Partial sequences can also be transferred within the piles. For example, it is possible to place a 7 on top of an 8, but the opposite is not allowed. The cards can only be moved around the piles in descending order, that is, from King to Ace. They must then start transferring the cards within the piles to reveal those immediately below and unlock their use. When the game starts, the players can only see the upper cards in each pile and only these are movable. The Stock Pile can only be used when there are no empty piles on the tableau. Players should analyze the game carefully before using it, as the new cards may prevent accessing sequences already in place in the piles. Instead, clicking on it will add 10 cards to the tableau automatically (one card per pile). Players cannot sift through the Stock Pile in a game of Spider Solitaire. The player wins the game when there are no more cards on the tableau. The players must complete sequences by suit on the tableau first, and these will be automatically sent to the Foundations and rearranged into ascending order. Unlike other Solitaire games, it is not possible to move individual cards into the Foundations. The goal of Spider Solitaire is to transfer all the cards, including those in the Stock Pile, into the Foundations. The tableau arrangement in a game of Spider Solitaire is always the same, regardless of the difficulty level you choose. There are 8 Foundations and there are normally placed on the right side of the tableau, above the piles. The Foundations start as empty spaces set aside to build the needed sequences to win the game. The Stock Pile contains all the cards that were not dealt into the piles. All the cards are facing down, except for the upper one in each pile which is facing forward and visible to the player. Starting from left to right, the first 4 piles contain 6 cards, while the others only have 5 each. In a game of Spider Solitaire, the tableau is divided into 3 main areas: the Stock Pile, the Foundations, and the Piles (also known as Columns). The basic rules are the same regardless of the number of suits you choose. The more suits you choose to play with, the more difficult the game becomes. You can play this Spider Solitaire game using 1, 2, or 4 suits at the same time. Since then, it has become a favorite among Solitaire games, even challenging the prominent Solitaire Klondike for the top spot. The game gets its name precisely from these 8 foundations as they resemble the 8 legs of a spider.Īlthough the first Spider Solitaire game dates back to 1947, it was only after its inclusion in the Microsoft computer software in 1998 that the game met its boom in popularity. Regardless, the goal is always to build 8 foundations by suit and in ascending order (from ace to king). The number of suits and decks may vary depending on the difficulty of the game. In its traditional and most common version, it uses two standard decks of 52 cards and 2 suits. As with the other games in this category, it is designed for a single player (thus the Solitaire designation), although it can also be adapted to include other players. Spider Solitaire is a game that belongs to the larger category of Solitaire card games. Simpson grew up in San Francisco and lived with his family in the housing projects of the Potrero Hill neighborhood. His parents separated in 1952, and Simpson was raised by his mother. As a child, Simpson developed rickets and wore braces on his legs until the age of five, giving him his bowlegged stance. Simpson has one brother, Melvin Leon "Truman" Simpson, one living sister, Shirley Simpson-Baker, and one deceased sister, Carmelita Simpson-Durio. He was called "O.J." from birth and did not know that Orenthal was his given name until a teacher read it in third grade. Simpson's maternal grandparents were from Louisiana, and his aunt gave him the name Orenthal, which she said was the name of a French actor she liked. Later in life, Jimmy Simpson announced that he was gay. His father was a well-known drag queen in the San Francisco Bay Area. īorn and raised in San Francisco, California, Simpson is a son of Eunice (née Durden), a hospital administrator, and Jimmy Lee Simpson, who has been described as having worked as an employee of the Federal Reserve Bank and a onetime bank custodian. In December 2021, Simpson was granted early release from his parole by the Nevada Division of Parole and Probation. He was granted parole on July 20, 2017, which was the minimum sentence. He served his sentence at the Lovelock Correctional Center near Lovelock, Nevada. In 2008, he was convicted and sentenced to 33 years' imprisonment, with a minimum of nine years without parole. In 2007, Simpson was arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada, and charged with armed robbery and kidnapping. To date, Simpson has paid little of the $33.5 million judgment (equivalent to $61 million in 2022). He was acquitted in a lengthy and internationally publicized trial, but found liable for the deaths three years later in a civil suit from the victims' families. In June 1994, Simpson was arrested and charged with the murders of Brown and Goldman. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1983 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985. After retiring with the San Francisco 49ers in 1979, Simpson pursued an acting and broadcasting career. Simpson holds the record for the single-season yards-per-game average at 143.1. In 1973, he became the first NFL player to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a season, earning him NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP), and is the only NFL player to do so in a 14-game regular season. He also led the league in rushing yards four times, in rushing touchdowns twice, and in points scored in 1975. During his nine seasons with the Bills, Simpson received five consecutive Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro selections from 1972 to 1976. Simpson played college football for the USC Trojans, where he won the Heisman Trophy as a senior, and was selected first overall by the Bills in the 1969 NFL/AFL draft. Once a popular figure with the American public, Simpson's professional success was overshadowed by his trial and controversial acquittal for the murders of his former wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman. He played in the National Football League (NFL) for 11 seasons, primarily with the Buffalo Bills, and is regarded as one of the greatest running backs of all time. Yeah she’ll be whatever you wanna call her but you still gotta cash her out. One of my favorite parts of the movie is when she’s teaching and preparing Diamond for her first night at The Players Club and she tells Diamond “Let’s go hoe” and Diamond looks offended and she tells her “That’s exactly what they bout to call you upstairs so you better get used to it.” Ronnie understood how hypocritical the game is but used it to her advantage. If she blows her money her first and only thought is to make a nigga pay her double what she lost. She’s very mentally strong and sharp when it comes to the business she is in. Ronnie understands men and understands how weak men are. Think of this article as a character analysis. Bird bitch is gender neutral but I’m talking about a woman in this article so yeah. The one thing that sticks out is that Ronnie was the epitome of a bird bitch but a boss bitch at the same time. It’s not that Ebony lil slim thick ass didn’t dance all movie and I’m still mad. It’s not the fact that Ice Cube of course has to portray himself knocking niggas out in 90% of his movies. It’s not the fact that the villain name was St.Louis. It’s not the humor of the late great Bernie Mac as shiesty ass Dolla Bill. One thing sticks out to me about this film 20 plus years later. I seen Lisa Raye titties as a kid and I’ve been on the road to prosperity ever since. Well we didn’t know we was seeing it he just wanted to get us outta the house that night. We used to have a drive in movie theater on the North in St.Louis and my uncle took me and my cousins to see it. It’s one of those films I’ll love forever. They even had Terrence Howard as a young mane. There’s so much black excellence in this movie. It is straight up ass BUT I LOVE THAT SHIT and I would hit that ass from the back. Let’s just start with the fact that The Players Club is one of the worst movies ever created. The sigil was like a signature or sign of an occult entity. An excerpt from Sefer Raziel HaMalakh featuring various magical sigils (or סגולות, segulot, in Hebrew).Ī common method of creating the sigils of certain spirits was to use kameas, a special use case of magic squares - the names of the spirits were converted to numbers, which were then located on the magic square. Such sigils are considered by some to be the equivalent of the true name of the spirit and thus granted the magician a measure of control over the beings. A particularly well-known list is in The Lesser Key of Solomon, in which the sigils of the 72 princes of the hierarchy of hell are given for the magician's use. The magical training books called grimoires often listed pages of such sigils. In medieval magic, the term sigil was commonly used to refer to occult signs which represented various angels and demons which the practitioner might summon. Parents are encouraged to work with their child to put letter sounds to each letter and decode the word. Because sight words, also known as high-frequency words, don’t always follow phonetic rules, they can be trickier to decipher and pronounce. Sight word recognition can aid in reading fluency and comprehension and often applies to words that children see repeatedly in books and eventually, after first learning to decode them, will learn to recognize on sight.
